For everything you see in the app, the connection is device-to-server only and nothing passes through an intermediary. Push notifications are the one exception, and they are off until you turn them on. They cannot work device-to-server, because a self-hosted TeslaMate cannot reach an iPhone and only Apple can deliver an iOS notification. When you enable them, the HedgieMate Notifier container sends the alert itself to a relay at push.hedgiemate.com, which hands it to Apple's push service. What that carries is the event type, the battery level, the charging state and the geofence name. GPS coordinates, driving routes and your TeslaMate server address are never sent, and the event data is deleted after a few hours. No account is involved; an anonymous linking token pairs the app with the container. In short, optional push notifications are the one thing that leaves your server. ### Difference from Tesla Login Apps Apps that require Tesla credentials get direct access to your Tesla account and can control your car.
